Brown and Co. report that buyers from as far afield as Ireland and the Ukraine attended the sale, whose star turn was a 2002 Claas Lexion 480 with Vario 7.5-metre header, showing 1,872 engine hours and 1,466 threshing hours. The machine made £70,000 on the fall of the hammer.
The sale, on behalf of Coston Hall Farms and Kimberley Farms, featured nearly 300 lots and came about due to business reorganisation into Yare Valley Farming, a new joint-venture contracting services company.
Among tractors on sale were a 2006-registered John Deere 7920 with 3,500 hours which made £40,000 and a slightly smaller 2004-registered Deere 7820 model with 3,100 hours which attracted a maximum bid of £35,500.
A modern-day classic, Claas’ Challenger 55, with 5,432 hours, 30” tracks and full weight set made a respectable £33,800 while a John Deere 8400 on an ‘N’ plate reached £24,200.
Those at the sale buying machinery were not to be disappointed, as a Vaderstad Super XL three-metre trailed drill achieved £15,000 for the sellers. A John Deere 592 Premium Rotafeed round baler with 2.2-metre pickup made £14,200 while a Keenan 12-tonne Orbital muck spreader made £10,250.
