SHEPHERDSTOWN - Tommy Addison had played in horrid conditions before.
He was, after all, a part of last year's Shepherd team that played through the monsoon that dominated the Rams' Division II national semifinal loss to Delta State.
The senior running back never played in an October snowstorm, though.
Until Saturday.
A freak winter storm blanketed most of the East Coast with a heavy, wet snow - the brunt of which fell during Shepherd's 38-17 victory over Bowie State at Ram Stadium.
"Oh my, it was bad. Last year in Mississippi (against Delta State), you couldn't run at all, but this one was bad. My toes are frozen," Addison said after the game.
John Deere plow machines hurriedly tried to clear the field of the snow that started falling during the early morning hours Saturday. Crews equipped with shovels cleared the sidelines as the seniors were introduced as a part of senior day at Shepherd's final home game of the season.
Seventeen people sat on the visiting bleachers at kickoff, no doubt a product of the terrible driving conditions throughout the 83-mile drive between the two university's campuses.
SourceI love tractors, especially John Deere. I want my own tractor, right here in my yard. I'll use it, too, if for anything else but especially the sound.
