Question : I have the Automatic Lawn Tractor – Super Broncon (Model 60TG). My son was cutting grass yesterday when he informed me that the steering wheel keeps slipping when tried to turn it. I looked underneath and observed the possible slippage area Part No. XXX-XXXX, Gear, Pinion, Steering and Part No. XXX-XXXXX, Gear, Steering, 11/90 Ratio. It doesn’t appear that the gears were worn down, but they did appear to have been rubbing as you can see shiny parts of Part No. XXX-XXXX. Any suggestions?
Answer : The bottom of the steering shaft has a bolt or nut that holds it tight. Take that nut or bolt out and then slide the shaft up out of the frame and you will see the bushing. Give me the model and serial numbers from under the seat.
