Former Bettendorfer Brady Schnell is looking to go wire-to-wire at the front of the Canadian PGA Tour 2009 qualifying tournament.
Schnell, who took the first-day lead with an adventurous 5-under opening round of 67 on Tuesday, fired his second straight round of 2-under 70 on Thursday at Morningstar Golf Course on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
At 9-under for the tournament, he will take a two-shot lead over fellow American Mike Roters into today's final Q-School round.
The top six players at the close of play on Friday will be exempt on the Canadian circuit this summer. The next six players will have non-exempt status.
The summer Canadian tour will consist of 10 events playing for purses of between $150,000 and $250,000. Players on the circuit also can qualify for the $5 million RBC Canadian Open, a PGA Tour-sanctioned event.
