Prattville police detectives continued Tuesday afternoon their investigation into the Sun­day theft of farm machinery and vehicles having a collective val­ue of $88,000.

According to police reports, someone cut a lock to get into an Old Ridge Road barnyard. The thief or thieves then made away with a $60,000 John Deere 7720 tractor with front-end loader, a white 1999 Chevrolet pickup val­ued at $20,000 and a 24-foot goose-necked, tandem-axle utili­ty trailer that was listed at $8,000 in value.

Police Chief Alfred Wads­worth said Tuesday that "the case is still under investiga­tion," that "all of the property is still missing."

The bold theft occurred at some point between 6 p.m. on Saturday and 6:30 Sunday morn­ing, reports indicate.

The machinery heist was the largest among a relatively few theft-related incidents reported to city police over the past week­end, although another utility trailer -- a 20-footer valued at $4,500 -- was reportedly taken Monday from a location de­scribed on police reports as "the Sugar Exchange."

A Pinnacle Place retail outlet reported Friday that someone stole $300 in currency, 12 pairs of dress pants and six knit shirts from the store. The incident is still under investigation, as is the reported Sunday... Source
