If you have a laser, that is the easiest way for a person to set grade. If you don't, you can use a long, STRAIGHT 2x4 with a level to check it. Establish grade at the center, then rotate the 2x4 and check it. Add dirt to low spots and remove it from high spots. Hope this helps.
