Police probe pedal tractor thefts
A reward is being offered in an effort to identify the people responsible for taking seven pedal tractors from a residence west of Florence.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis said the pedal tractors had been refurbished and some were considered antiques.
"The owner is offering $1,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the people involved," Willis said.
Investigators said the thieves broke into a shop on Lauderdale 8 in the Threets Crossroads community March 10.
"There were several of these tractors there (in the shop) on a trailer, but they only took seven," Willis said.

Afternoon fire damages house
A spark from a battery charger ignited materials that caused a fire in a basement of a Russellville house Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to 603 Adams St. just after 1 p.m.
Firefighters said the fire was contained to the basement of the residence. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
