For the 10th year, Galva/Tri-County Garden Tractor Pullers held their Fall Indoor Pull Saturday, Nov. 5. Garden tractors from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin converged on Black Hawk College East Campus for this annual event which was free to the public. Classes included stock garden tractors up to 25 horse power and alcohol garden tractors up to 100 horse power. A total of 291 hooks took place over the course of the day; 251 regular with four classes that had heats for an additional 40 extra hooks with the finals. “Frankenstein” a garden tractor donated to the college’s ag mechanics department several years ago also participated this year. The engine was built by ag mechanics student, Bryan Putnam, of Seaton. “Frankenstein”, built from John Deere and Cub Cadet parts by the department’s students, pulled one hook in the 16 horse 950 class and 2 hooks in the 16 horse 1050 class and the 14 horse 1050 class. The college tractor averaged 7th place in each class with approximately 15 participants in each of the classes.
