Benefit dinner, auction is Friday
CRESTON -- On Friday, the Norwayne FFA is hosting its second annual Benefit Dinner and auction for the Helton family of Creston who recently lost their husband and father to cancer.
The doors will open at Norwayne High School at 4:30 with dinner and silent auction until 8 p.m. At about 8 p.m., the live auction will begin in the Norwayne Middle School gym. Items to watch for include: a week stay in a Siesta Keys, Fla. condo, weed-eater, recliner chair and an International pedal tractor. Plus, you will have your choice for a Norwayne, John Deere or International cornhole board.
Drug awareness program is Saturday
ORRVILLE -- East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7202 Chippewa Road, will hold a drug awareness program Saturday at 10 a.m.
Jim Garrett, diversion investigator for the Medway Drug Enforcement Agency, will give insights on drugs that are infiltrating communities. Garrett's presentation will cover illegal drug abuse and trafficking, as well as prescription drug abuse occurring in Wayne County.
