Customer Reviews:
So far, so good
I switched to an electric trimmer after having two different gas models crap out on me in less than 4 years. there is some slight assembly required out of the box, attaching the auxiliary handle and guard (you will need a Phillips head screwdriver). I have used this trimmer a couple of times now and have no major complaints, it has plenty of power for me to trim around my yard. The head where the trimmer is located is a little wobbly so I subtracted one star. Nearly everything on the trimmer is adjustable, from the angle of the head to the length of the shaft and the angle of the auxiliary handle. It even has a neat feature where the handle rotates 180-degrees to go from a trimmer to an edger, which I like a lot! I picked mine up for under 30 bucks at my local Super K.

Line feed Flawed
Trimmer has serious problems with the line feeder. Within seconds of use the lines become tangled making the trimmer inoperable.

jettamadness asked on Jul 01, 2008: Craftsman trimmer spark plug had oil on it when removed?
adam/penny answered:
if the plug was bad that's to be expected. take it with you to the hardware store and get a new plug, also get a can of THRUST it's actually a can of very volatile fluid. spray some into the spark plug hole and it will get rid of some of the fluids that are still in there. it evaporates very quickly. it's generally used to help START engines by spray it into the carb. a few QUICK shots, then try to start the mower.
remember to put the new plug in first. if it doesn't work the first time give it a couple of more tries.
hopefully that will be all you need to do.
remember that the either is very volatile.
good luck to ya
  • RoeB also said:
If it will start and run OK, you do not have too much of a problem. Could be your carb is allowing some fuel into the compression chamber during storage. If it runs good otherwise would drain fuel during storage or have carb. rebuilt....
David Huynh asked on Jan 13, 2008: Craftsman string trimmer hard to start?
Joe S answered:
Press the primer bulb 10-15 times (these 2 cycle units like their primer). I am assuming your trimmer will have a 3 position choke. Move the choke to position 1 (fully choked). Keep the throttle wide open, and pull the cord until you hear it sputter (as though it wants to start but can't). You may have to pull the cord 5-10 times before this happens.

Move the choke to the middle position and pull the cord (Keep the throttle wide open). In theory the motor should fire, but it may take a couple of pulls. Let it run for awhile (stay on the throttle). After 30-60secs, take the choke right off. You should be ready to trim.

Of course you will want to replace your plug once a season or so. Make sure you aren't using old gas, and that it has been mixed properlly 40:1. 2 Cycle Trimmers are tricky to start (esspecially with age).

Good Luck!
